The NWIFTV Why We Wear Red is a global organization based in Los Angeles and New Mexico. The vision of Why We Wear Red is a world free of sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, child abuse and inequality for women in film, television, music and in all media.

WHY WE WEAR RED is a powerful media coalition initiative aimed at raising global awareness about the glaring lack of inclusion of Native Women in Film & Television in all media. This issue is directly intertwined with the devastating epidemic of Missing and Murdered Native and Indigenous Women, Girls, and People. Why We Wear Red was founded in January 7, 2018.

Through our Education programs and Advocacy initiatives, we are paving the way for innovative approaches to treating trauma, igniting shifts in the way the public views and responds to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, and reforming and advancing policies and legislation on the city, state, and federal levels to ensure justice for survivors.

We do this by advising legislators and policy makers, strategically engaging with news media, presenting our work at events, and educating our community through our social media platforms and public education efforts.

We encourage you to watch these films and TV series to gain a deeper understanding of the issues that Native women and Native and Indigenous people face every day.
